What Not To Pack When Moving Part 1


Whether you are moving locally or out of state, there are going to be items that you will not want to go in the packing truck because they maybe too fragile, you need instant access or are items you would just feel safer knowing they are in your own car. While you are packing place these items and boxes to the side or inform your moving company that they will be going into your personal vehicle. Below are different types of items that you may consider placing in your personal vehicle when moving to a new destination.

First Night Essentials

The unpacking process can feel like an eternity when you are trying to balance your work life with your moving schedule. If you know that your unpacking process will be while, it is a good idea to have a box of essentials you’ll need for the first night and then some. These items might include:

  • Keys
  • Clothes
  • Toiletries
  • Chargers
  • Certain Electronics
  • Bed Sheets  ( if you plan on setting up your bed right away)

Hazardous Items

These items may not actually be hazardous labeled items, but they could be items that may not be the safest to be placed in a moving truck. In addition, there are some items that are illegal to put in a moving truck when moving locally or out of state. These items are flammable or combustible which is why it is safer to keep in your own car to avoid the risk of damage or a potential fire. Other items such as bleach could damage your other belongings if they get knocked over in the moving truck and cause a delay in your overall move. Make sure to move the items below in your own car or get rid of them to avoid any damage, legal action and to make sure your move is as safe and smooth as possible.
